EDO MURTIC / ZORAN MUSIC / MIELA REINA
Opere su carta

Torbandena Gallery hosts an exhibition of works on paper dedicated to three great artists from our territory: Edo Murtic, Zoran Music and Miela Reina, considered some of the greatest talents of the twentieth century in the Adriatic region.

The exhibition, which has three different sections, proposes in the main hall of the gallery a series of works on paper by Zoran Music (1906 - 2005) produced between 1947 and 1992. These years cover different moments of the artistic creativity of the master from Gorizia. Following a chronological order, one can find a delicate series of watercolours and "veneziani" pastels from the forties, and Paesaggi senesi from the fifties. A large gouache from the the series of works Non siamo gli ultimi, which gives a visual memory of the horror of the concentration camps, is also exhibited. Then we arrive to the sharp self-portraits Autoritratti, works made in his latest creative phase.

In the gallery upstairs space the exhibition continues with a tribute to Edo Murtic (1921 -2005), recognized master of the European abstraction. The show has a series of papers from the sixties and seventies which strongly express the gesture of colours performed by this great artist who recently died, and who was very close to the American Action Painting. The works shown are sketches of projects of large dimensions paintings that at that time were acquired by important European and American museums of modern art.

In the drawings room, also upstairs, some of the works by Miela Reina (1935 -1972): works on paper from the sixties, expressing freely an explosive sign of huge creativity for those years; works which focus the most relevant points of the art of this important feminine figure, capable for the time being, to anticipate the intuitions of some of the greatest artist of the end of the last century.

The exhibition is open till the 8th of October 2006.
