Galleria Torbandena presents an exhibition dedicated to selected works by Giorgio Morandi.
On show about twenty paintings among which canvases, water-colours and drawings; most of them come from private collections and some, painted by the artist between the 10s and the 50s, come from the Jesi collection. His famous still lives and landscapes are laps of a stimulating path in the art of the great boulognaise painter, who was capable of expressing an emotional intensity of extraordinary level through a severe repertoire made only of landscape and objects of common use.
His still lives raise some of the poorest objects of Morandi's studio set in via Fondazza to pure poetry; the quiet, silent and evanescent, timeless landscapes are just the few elements, the few simple forms through which Morandi has expressed the poetic of his work, characterised by shakes and light's vibrations, motionless life which is at the same time animated, mistical vision and suspended dimensions. Giorgio Morandi, in the simplicity of his themes, has evoked the core of things, reaching their inner essence and translating their symbols: those ideal forms, ethereal and absolute, have then reached an elevated stage of thought and pictorial rarefaction.
The exhibition will be realised thanks to the contribution of the Centro Studi Morandi in Bologna and will be hosted by Marilena Pasquali, the exhibition's curator, who will be present at the Gallery.
Galleria Torbandena will also present a selection of selected works of ZORAN MUSIC, honoring the artist during his anthological exhibition at Palazzo Attems in Gorizia.
The exhibition will be opened at 4 pm on Saturday, October 24, and will end on November 23, 2003.
Timetable: Monday 4 pm - 8 pm; Tuesday to Saturday: 10 - 1 pm and 4 pm - 8 pm; Sunday 10 - 1 pm
