Carlos Lizariturry

Carlos Lizariturry was born in San Sebastian in 1955. He took his degree together with Anthony Caro at the Central St. Martins School of Art in London. He has been for eleven years Eduardo Chilllida's assistant.
Lizariturry is considered the last interpreter of the great Basque tradition of Sculpture, after the experiences of Chillida himself, Oteiza and Mendiburu. Some of his public monumental works are exposed in Japan, Chile, Spain and in the Basque Countries. He has participated in several fairs of contemporary art among which Art Cologne, Arco Madrid and Arte Fiera Bologna.
Recently he has realised Guardian, a huge work of almost 5 tons for the collection of the Banco Banesto of Madrid.
The introduction of the catalogue is by Manuel Padorno, one of the most intense voices of Spanish Contemporary Poetry.
